Effective Mosquito repellents for babies

I absolutely hate it when I see red swollen mosquito bites on Nigel. All moms know babies are extra attractive to these sucking vermins because little ones have soft and tender skin. What are protective mommies suppose to do? Slather your baby with insect repellents! So far I’ve tried two products on Nigel…

Zanza by Chicco- is made from natural ingredients guaranteed not to hurt baby’s sensitive skin . It is very effective but costly. The strong smell can be unpleasant to some . It comes in roll-on, spray and ointment. I’ve used the roll-on. Just a couple of strokes on Nigel’s legs during play time works well. I don’t have to apply it on the entire leg.

Off Lotion for Kids-is cheaper than Zanza but not as effective. It must be applied on the entire surface of the skin. I once missed a spot and Nigel ended up still getting bitten. It is not recommended for infants. I started using this on Nigel at 5 months. Off Lotion has a “tropical fresh fragrance” and doesn’t have a greasy feel.

Before using any product, do a patch test first. Apply it on a small area of your baby’s skin and wait up to 24 hours. If the area doesn’t get red or if rashes don’t appear, its safe to use.

Mosquito Net - this is cheapest solution to keep bugs away from your baby. But of course it can only be used when the baby is sleeping. Nigel has this over his crib at night time. He wakes up happy and mosquito bite free!
