As promised, I am posting about how I was able to transfer my blog to my new domain. I purchased a domain from Google for this blog, Nurturing Nigel. They said it would take about three days before it kicks in. On the 4th day, my blog wasn’t showing up. Instead, my page showed a 404 Server Error when I tried to access my blog. At that point I knew something was wrong. I did a little research.
10$ is a good price but it seems that Google doesn’t provide customer service of any kind. I couldn’t find an email address or a phone number to call if you need help. All they have is a forum I am not sure they moderate. People there are also users who are also just experimenting to find answers.
Anyway, here are the steps I did to change my domain name
1. Log-on to BlogSpot account and go to Settings
2. Under settings choose the publishing tab. This will take you to the advanced settings page where you can change your domain name.
3. Change your domain name back to your old URL (I know this sounds insane, but it worked for me and for many others who have had the problem).
4. Click on SAVE SETTINGS and view your blog. You will see that the URL is the old one again.
5. Go back to your dashboard and go to the publishing tab again under settings.
6. This time, type in the domain name you purchased and click on SAVE SETTINGS.
I had to do these steps a couple of times before it worked. I know it could be frustrating but as I tinkered and tinkered, eventually it worked. Sometimes, for some reason it also works if you do it in another browser. So if you normally use Firefox, try changing it in Internet Explorer.

Still, you are very lucky to have made it finally functional. In my case, I had to lost readers and at the same time, waited longer... No help could be found from blogger itself and thus, I spent another 20 USD to make my two domain purchsed working..
That explains why you were in 404 the previous days when i tried to drop back... Congratulations and good move towards better site ownership and earning i suppose? ^^
wow. I didn't even know that Google now sells domain names. I've always bought mine from GoDaddy.
Hey, just wanted to let you know that while I am still recovering from my shoulder surgery, and getting better every day, I still can't type for long periods of time without pain. That said, I enjoyed your post and am glad I dropped by.
peace,
